AUGUSTA — Victor L. Shumate, 64, died on March 12, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Born Jan. 4, 1951, in El Dorado, he was the son of Paul Bennett and Isa Lou (Gale) Shumate. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and Butler County Community College. He was a retired truck driver and care giver.  Mr. Shumate served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his son Ben (Jackie Mai) Shumate of Ellinwood; grandchildren Aaron Shumate of Great Bend, Bradley Shumate of Ellinwood, and Haleigh Thorne of Great Bend; siblings Gerald (Gayle) Shumate of Springtown, Texas, Jeff (Norma) Shumate of Charleston, Mo., Jay Shumate of Erie, and Jerry Shumate of Springtown, Texas; his mother Isa Lou Fisher of Augusta; and stepmother Shirley Shumate of Erie. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jayne Shumate; his father Paul Shumate; and niece Hannah Shumate.  
His family will celebrate his life with a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Monday at Hartford Cemetery in Hartford, where military honors will be rendered.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Carlson Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
