Vinita Jean Nolte Gatton

HUDSON — Vinita Jean Nolte Gatton, age 79, of rural Stafford died Saturday, April 11, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kan. She was born May 6, 1940 in the farm home of her parents, William and Lizzie Spangenberg Nolte, six miles east of Hudson, Kan. On May 25, 1958 she married Virgil Gatton at Trinity Church, Hudson, Kan. She was a farm wife, a homemaker, and cared for numerous children in her home. She was custodian for Peace and Trinity Churches of Hudson for many years. 

She was baptized, confirmed and married in Trinity United Church of Christ of Hudson, Kan. 

She is survived by her husband Virgil; sons Danny Kent (Mary) of rural Stafford and Todd Ray (Sheri) of rural Haviland, Kan.; daughters Janna Lynn Raven (Lance) Nevada, Mo.; Anita Gwen Sanko (Kenton) of Great Bend, Kan., and  Lisa Jane Blide (Terry) of Hays, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Raven of Frisco, Texas., Casey Gatton of Great Bend, Kan., Emily Gatton Moore (Allan) of St. John, Kan., Travis Blide of Ellis, Kan., Annie Sanko Tolbert (Mike) of Olathe, Kan., Sara Blide Teeter (Chris) of Victoria, Kan., Sally Sanko of Atlanta, Ga., Macie Sanko of Lawrence, Kan.. Aaron Sanko of Thornton, Colo., Colton and Ashton Gatton of rural  Haviland, Kan.; six great-grandchildren Hunter and Brooklynn Teeter of Victoria, Kan., Kraytyn Blide of Ellis, Kan., Thomas and Tillie Tolbert of Olathe, Kan., and Cody Richard Moore of St. John, Kan.; three sisters, Wilma Byler of Warrenton, Mo., Linda Warnecke (William) and Ellen Engalage (Marvin) of Marthasville, Mo.; sisters-in-law Bernice Nolte of Morrison, Mo., Shirley Nolte of Ozark, Mo., Gloria Nolte of Heber Springs, Ark., Jackie Brown (Leroy) of Valley Center, Ks., Karen Gatton Kramp of Ellinwood; brothers-in-law Fred Needham of Knoxville, Tenn., and Richard Valent of Cheyenne, Wyo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and daycare children who she considered her grandchildren. Vinita was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Cody Kent Gatton; three brothers, the Rev. Gerald Nolte, Ralph Nolte, and Glen Nolte. 

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, Private Family Graveside service will be Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Trinity Cemetery, Hudson with Pastor Wade Russell presiding.
