HOLYROOD — Viola Katherine Besthorn, 94, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Wilson. She was born June 3, 1921 to Joseph Henry Ross and Clara Mae (Ruby), who had eight other children (Edith Irene Weeks, Ethel Marie Bechtel, Florence I. Meharg, Clara Mae McCabe, the twins, Lee and Leo, Kelly and Joseph Jr.) all deceased. She married Arthur William Besthorn on June 2, 1940.
Viola was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Women’s Guild, American Legion Auxiliary and the Holyrood Eastern Star.
After Arthur’s death, she enjoyed being with friends, drinking coffee at C & V’s, dining at the Senior Center, driving her car and traveling with her sister, Clara Mae.
Viola is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m., Friday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service: 11 a.m., Saturday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood or Clara Barton.
