LARNED — Virgil H. Donovan, 83, passed away Oct. 18, 2016, at Diversicare of Larned. Born July 9, 1933 in Larned, he was the son of Paul H. Sr. and Elsie N. King Donovan. On Oct. 24, 1959, he married Shirley F. Roe in Clovis, N.M. She passed away Oct. 4, 2014. A lifetime area resident, he was a retired animal control officer for the city of Larned. He was a volunteer for the Larned Fire Department. He loved to follow his grandchildren in sports, local sporting events, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Donovan was a member of the Monday night Bowling League.
Survivors include, three sons, Donnie (Christina) Donovan, of Friona, Texas, and Mike Donovan and Larry Donovan (Debbie), both of Larned; a daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Fountain, of Arlington; a brother, Paul (Karen) Donovan Jr. of Liberal; five grandchildren, Briana, Megan, Tyler, Sean, Michelle; and two great-grandchildren, Kolten and Payten.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.
