Virginia “Gini” I. Sharp, 83, retired secretary, homemaker, and owner of Wheat Weaving Creations, passed away Aug. 31. Gini was a charter member of Woodlawn Baptist Church est. in 1955, actively serving in many different capacities. She was founder of the Wichita Wheat Weavers’ Guild and past president of the National Association of Wheat Weavers. She was also past president of the Roger Williams Association of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries and editor for the Association for the past 12 years. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter GE.
Gini is survived by her loving son, Brad Sharp and daughter-in-law Barbara Sharp of Wichita; niece/daughters Debi (Randy) Salberg of Webster Groves, Mo. and Sally (Mike) Hill of Olathe; and sisters, Joyce (James) Lofland and Rosilyn (Larry) Kruckenburg both of Great Bend, Marilyn K. Bird of Nashville, Tenn.; and brothers, Buddy Mohr and Tom Mohr of Houston, Texas, Jimmy (Gerrie) Mohr of Milford, Ricky (Nita) Mohr of Great Bend; sister-in-law Virginia Sharp of Great Bend; brother-in-law, Lloyd Phillips of Houston, Texas; granddaughter/niece, Amanda Hill of Olathe; and grandsons/nephews, Matthew (Jennifer) Hill, Dan Salberg, and Mark Hill; and numerous nieces/nephews and grand nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond; parents, Zoe Vivian and Carl Mohr; brothers, Bob Mohr and Doug Mohr.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Lakeview Funeral Home with services to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 960 S. Woodlawn Wichita.
