Walter (Mac) Fox 1946-2015

LARNED — Walter (Mac) Fox, 92, passed away May 20, 2015, at Diversicare of Larned. Born Sept. 12, 1922, in Larned, he was the son of Walter M. and Gladys Strader Fox. On Dec. 15, 1946, he married Dorothy D. Goldsmith in Wichita. She passed away on May 16, 2013. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer, worked at Larned State Hospital as the plumbing shop foreman for 32 years and also worked at Boeing for one year before going in the service.
Mr. Fox served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Larned.
Survivors include, three sons, Gary (Mikealene) Fox, of Ottawa, Larry (Marilyn) Fox, of Manhattan and Maurice Fox, of Larned; a brother, Roger Fox, of Larned; four grandchildren, Chris Fox, Eric Fox, Bethany (Fox) Sims and Weston Fox; four great-grandchildren, Allen Fox, Easton Fox, Eli Fox and Cooper Sims. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Beth Ann Fox.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned with the Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Foundation or the Welcome Inn Senior Center both in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
