“Weez” Vernon E. Duntz, Jr., 56, died Oct. 28, 2013 at his residence in Raymond. He was born Sept. 12, 1957 in  Fremont, Neb. the son of Vernon and Karen (Walters) Duntz, Sr. He was a lifetime Chase and Raymond community resident.
Mr. Duntz worked as head of maintenance Chase High School and was a 1975 Chase High School graduate.
He was baptized at Raymond Baptist Church; Kansas Fur Harvester Association; Kansas Muzzle Loader Association; Assistant Chief Raymond Fire Dept.; Raymond City Council Member; Maintained Raymond Hilltop Cemetery and Raymond Baptist Church Properties.
He was married on June 20, 1987 to Debra K. Serpan at Wichita.
Survivors include wife, Debra K. Duntz, of the home; four sons, Billy Higgins, Jr. (Ashley), and children, Raymond; Heath Duntz (Wanita) and children, St. John; Ethan E. Duntz, Raymond; Mathew Higgins (Jillaine), and children, Chisholm, Minn.; father, Vernon Duntz, Sr., Raymond; mother, Karen Nuss, Chase;  brother, Clay Duntz (Lorna), Leon;  sister, Wanda Shepherd, Kansas City Kan.; step-brother, Kyle Duntz, Neb.;  grandmother, Mary Walters, Chase.; two sister-in-laws, Kay Winford,  Dona Serpan both of Lyons; one brother-in-law, Steven Serpan, Timken; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m, Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Chase High School, Chase. Burial will be at Raymond Hilltop Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 from 2-7 p.m. at Birzer Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Raymond Fire Dept. or Raymond Community Development.
