LARNED — Wilhelm (Bill) H. Schwartzkopf, 101, died on Oct. 1. Born Oct. 19, 1910, he was son of Philip and Mary Georg Schwartzkopf. He was born north of Alexander and lived there until he was 8 years old. He attended school in Alexander and went to Fort Hays College where he obtained his degree in business education and agriculture. His teaching career included, Johnson and Bushton, but he spent most of his time in Larned, teaching typing, business, and organizing the distributive education program involving the Larned merchants. On June 10, 1937 he married Helen Spomer. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2006.
Mr. Schwartzkopf was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Larned.
 Survivors include, Miriam Davies of Bolivar, Pa.; son-in-law, Jim Sylwester of Lawrence, Lynn Schwartzkopf of Hutchinson,  Janet Young of Barnsdall, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sisters, Freda Clarke, Clara Wallace; brothers, Herman and Carl; daughter, Kathy Sylwester, and great-grandson, Aiden Sylwester.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Larned with Pastor Rick Langness presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Memorials may be given to Hospice House in Hutchinson or Grace Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.
