William Billy R. Bauer 1937-2012

WINFIELD — William ‘Billy’ R. Bauer, 78, of Winfield, passed away Aug. 27, 2012 at the Wm. Newton Memorial Hospital.
Billy was born March 17, 1934 in Great Bend  to William R. Bauer, Sr. and Dora (Krause).  He attended the local schools and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1952.
He entered the Air Force after graduation.  He was stationed around the country and the world and retired after 20 years of service, working in supply and support.  He then worked for the USPS in Wichita and retired in 2000.  He recently moved to Winfield to be cared for by family.
He married Donna Swartz in Florida.
He is survived by wife Donna Bauer of Wichita; daughters, Dorothy Wittmerof Diberville, Miss. and Debra Bacon of Arizona; sisters,  Grace Lewis of Wichita, Louise McCord of Hays; nieces and nephews; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers- in-law, Donald Pratt and Lawrence Lewis, and sister Judy Pratt.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield.  Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.  Memorials maybe made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
