William Edgar Sturtz 1934-2015

 ELLINWOOD — William Edgar Sturtz, 80, passed away at Country Place Senior Living in Ellinwood, KS on May 10. Born June 24, at Shattuck, Okla., he was the son of Willie and Roselea (Miller) Sturtz.
He married Grace Delores Ringering on Sept. 1, 1955 in Shattuck, Okla. Edgar received a bachelor’s degree at Sterling University and then his master’s degree at Fort Hays State University. A resident of Ellinwood since 1964 he was an art teacher for 38 years first at Prairie Home in Stafford County and then in Ellinwood. He also co-owned “Kwik Kar Wash” in Ellinwood and Great Bend. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ellinwood and helped with local AWANA functions. He also attended seminary in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Survivors include a son, Tevye (Danielle) Sturtz, Ellinwood; daughters, Debbie (John) Typaldos, Nixa, Mo., Karen (Daniel) Bohn, Ellinwood, Stephanie (Randy) Lafreniere, Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Emily (Chris) Anderson, DJ (Beth) Bohn, Trevor Bohn, Erica (Rudy) Jones, Alex Lafreniere (Jon Hudson), Johnanna Typaldos, Johnny typaldos, Felicia Typaldos, Jordan Blake, Drew Blake, Logan Sturtz, Gracie Sturtz; and great-grandchildren Olivia Jones, Jaxon and Anlynn Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Haskell and Marvin Sturtz.
Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church south of Ellinwood with Pastors David Wesner and Mike Joiner presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. There will be visitation at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Wednesday May 13 and Thursday May 14 both from 6-8 PM.
