ELLINWOOD — William N. (Bill) Johnson, 81, died Dec. 19 at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Dec. 11, 1931 in Winfield, he was the son of Dee Johnson and Juanita M. Ermey Johnson. On Feb. 19, 1954 he married Joan Hauser in Las Cruces, N.M. She died on Aug. 25, 1991. A long-time resident of Ellinwood, formerly of Ark City, he was a Division Engineer at Marlette Homes and service station manager at Bird Oil Company, both of Great Bend.
Mr. Johnson was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, the American Legion and Grove Park Golf Club, all in Ellinwood.
Survivors include a son, Michael D. Johnson and wife Carolyn, of Great Bend; and two daughters, Debra Ann Wirtz and husband Jerry of Ellinwood and Cynthia K. Brown and husband Miles of Wichita. He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Bob Johnson; a sister, Bonnie Rice; and a grandson, Ryan Vondra.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with the Rev. Christine Edwards officiating. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 yo 7 p.m., on Friday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to Grove Park Golf Club or the American Legion, both of Ellinwood.
