Winifred V. Winnie Hanzlicek 1921 - 2014

POTWIN – Winifred V. “Winnie” Hanzlicek, 93, passed away Nov. 26 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. She was born near Algona, Iowa, July 16, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Doretta (Mitchell) Plumb. She was united in marriage to Gilbert K. Hanzlicek at Wilson. He preceded her in death in 1962.  She was a homemaker and later worked for nearly 20 years as a baker in the hospital dietary department.  
She proudly served her country during World War II with the United States Navy WAVES.
She is survived by three sons,  Lynn Hanzlicek of Potwin, Mark Hanzlicek and wife Christy of Caldwell, and Gregg Hanzlicek and wife Leah of Olsburg; a sister, Patricia Anderson of Oelwein, Iowa; sisters-in-law Marilyn Plumb of Claremont, Calif.,; and Ellen Hanzlicek of Wilson; brother-in-law Sam Shoaff of Great Bend; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Potwin United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Great Bend.  A memorial fund has been established for the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Lamb Funeral Home.
