To the editor:

Last week, our family had a scary situation and needed to call 911. On a cold, snowy night, the fire department showed up to help with a hospital transport. While they were at our home assisting with the situation, they went above and beyond. They called in a crew from the other firehouse to clear our walkway of snow and asked for the keys to our car so they could start it - a small grace for a late night drive to the hospital. We were so grateful for these small acts of kindness that made a cold, scary night a little bit warmer.

Great Bend’s finest didn’t ask to have these acts of kindness elevated, but it is important to us that the community knows, we are all in great hands.
