This is the last Friday edition of the Great Bend Tribune, and in two days the last Sunday edition will be delivered.

Starting Tuesday, your Great Bend Tribune will be delivered every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It will arrive in you mail if you are a print subscriber, and can be read online at gbtribune.com.

What won’t change is that Tribune employees will be delivering local news throughout the week. We’ll still print three newspapers a week.

A Saturday paper will be good news for our readers who don’t want to wait until Sunday morning to read about Friday news, including sporting events.

If you want to read the morning paper before the U.S. Postal Service delivers it, the Tribune’s e-edition is posted by 4 a.m. on publishing days and often subscribers can read complete articles before that on our website.

And we’ll also start running the weekend comics page in color again. We dropped the color during a paper shortage and this seemed like a good time to give something back to our readers.

The bottom line is that some readers will like the change, some won’t, and most of us will find pluses and minuses after the change. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the carriers, those unsung heroes who faithfully delivered papers over the years. They are a dwindling breed, with more newspapers choosing alternative methods of delivery.

As always, we also want to thank you, our faithful readers. Your good old-fashioned newspaper is still here for you. People who still read newspapers are our favorite people, and we appreciate you more than ever before.
