Dear editor,

Fellow Citizens:

A sleeping giant’s voice awakened in me this morning, but let me start by saying I was a lifelong Republican as was my family as far back as I can remember.

I was jolted out my usual thinking when Dr. George Tiller was murdered by a fanatic during a church service in Wichita a few years ago. I went to the Pawnee County Courthouse in Larned the next day and changed my party affiliation to Independent. Then when I voted in a subsequent Republican primary, I was required to sign up again for the Republican Party, which I did. That lasted until the election of 2016 when I again became an Independent because of the nomination by the party of Donald Trump.

Now, I’m so disgusted by the outcome of the hearing to approve Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court that I need to ventilate my disbelief in the system that allowed the nomination to be approved by the Senate.

There were no corroborating witnesses to support Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony?

And only the Senate can see the FBI’s results of their investigation?

Does anyone believe she was set up to provide the damaging testimony about Kavanaugh?

Seriously?

The whole process was so politicized — 50 to 48 — still it’s hard not to imagine that in their minds, the senators found her words to be truthful and convincing.

In the November election this year, I am predicting that women will turn out in BIG numbers in support of candidates who are NOT Republicans.

We’ll see.
