The Barton Community College Board of Trustees has taken extra measures to be transparent with its decisions and stewardship of tax dollars with the launch of a web page dedicated to transparency and accountability.
The page contains information on the college’s enrollment numbers from previous academic years, a breakdown of how the budget is allocated, financial reports, audit information and more.
Some of what you will find is that the college grew 20% in five years, and we serve about 17,000 students per year. Additionally, the financial reports reveal conservative fiscal management that has allowed Barton to avoid raising the mill levy for nearly a decade while keeping Barton’s budget in the black year after year, despite continued reductions in state support and a second year reduction in oil valuation further impacting local funding.
The information on the accountability and transparency page has always been available in different parts of the website before, but this page brings it all together in one spot for easy reading for the convenience of our constituents.
The page is a living resource, so more may be added in the future. If you have questions about the content or would like the data present in another way, feel free to contact the college at trustee@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9302.
We hope this page will be helpful to those who want to learn more about their local community
college.
