Elderly are caught in inflation squeeze

Dear Editor,
Well, here I am again. Seems like I write lots of letters, but this one really makes me mad.
My husband and I got our Social Security letters last week. Our checks are really small the way it is and then they tell us, no increase in our checks, since the cost of living has not went up since 2008.
I really would like to know who those dumb people are who decide this. Bet they get a raise and don’t have to worry about how to pay big utility bills, etc. and when you go to the grocery store — really, everything has gone up, gas at the pumps, etc.
Pretty soon they will probably tell the old people, tough luck if you’re on Social Security, who cares?
Norma Wagner,
Otis
