Dear Editor,
Everyone knows about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what about Giving Tuesday? Thats right, Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is the kick-off to the giving season. Launched in 2012 by New Yorks 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, the initiative encourages charities, businesses, schools, and religious and community groups to give back around the holidays.
This year the Golden Belt Community Foundation became an official partner of Giving Tuesday. And on Dec. 2, were excited to host an in-person giving day to build local non-profit and community endowments. Over 40 organizations in Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties will participate in this opportunity.
It’s simple. Just stop by the Golden Belt Community Foundation office (or one of our other giving sites: State Theatre in Larned, Sixty-Plus Center in La Crosse, or the Courthouse Annex in St. John) and select which non-profit organization endowment you wish to support. You can choose one endowment fund, or even divide your gift between several endowment funds. Whats even better is that your gift will be partially matched and 100% stays in our communities.
Please remember this, no gift is too small. Give at a level that is meaningful to you and your family. There is power in collective giving. Together we can make our communities great places to live, work, and play. Americans are one of the most giving people in the world, generous both with our money and our time and the people in the Golden Belt area are no different.
On Dec. 2, lets make Giving Tuesday a tradition. Join us in giving as good as we get.
Christy L. Tustin, Executive Director
