Loss of Jerry Schrader gives pause

Dear Editor,
The passing of Jerry L. Schrader, DVM gives pause for the salute of an individual whose expertise and care graced this community for over 60 years. He was one-of-a-kind! This community is the better for knowing him.
He was a man of renown. In 2013, he was awarded Kansas Veterinarian of the Year; he also was selected “Central Kansas Greatest DVM.” In spite of regional and state recognition, Jerry Schrader is best noted for his individual and personal service to is clients.
To Jerry, it made little difference if his client was a pet or a pen of wild calves, he was hands-on.
Poetry says “Brevity is the soul of wit,” suffice it to say Jerry Schrader made all he came into contact with feel better.
Personally, I always greeted him: “Scripture says: The glory of a wise man is his white head,” and he responded with his classic smile. Everybody was the better for knowing Jerry L. Schrader, DVM.
