The League of Women Voters of Great Bend opposes the purging of the incomplete voter registration list. We feel that this is an attempt to suppress voting and will especially impact young and minority voters. Many of those on the list are there because they have not furnished proof of citizenship. We view the proof of citizenship as a barrier to voter registration, as confusing, expensive in time and money, and beyond the ease of persons who may move often and·have little means to keep documents. The LWV Great Bend believes that voting is a fundamental right of citizens which must be protected.
