Dear editor,
I am writing this letter in support of my friend Mike Allison. I have known Mike for close to 50 years and can tell you, without a doubt, that he is a man of honesty and integrity. It is hard to stand by and watch him being disparaged by a group of people who do not know him and listen to the lies being told, as if they are truths. Mike would never do anything that isn’t in the best interest of our city.
I watched Mike raise three boys. He participated in all their activities, worked in his practice and cared for his wife Sally, who was diagnosed at a young age with MS. In later years, before Sally died of breast cancer, he grocery shopped, cooked meals, did the household chores, drove to doctor appointments, practiced dentistry and served our city as mayor. It wasn’t easy. I often wondered how he could keep doing it all. He spent countless hours working to make Great Bend, GREAT! If you know Mike, you know he is honest. He is a man of his word. He has not profited from being our mayor. Instead, he gave his time and energy freely and now we should honor and respect him for his service and dedication to our city. Thank you Mike for 18 great years!
