Our priorities are all messed up

Dear Editor,
I’ve been listening to the news and reading the papers and magazines.
It seems our governing bodies are not happy with our $7 to $9 trillion debt.
They insist on adding more.
I’ve heard:
“Let the richest of the rich keep their tax break.”
“Raise the taxes on the poor and middle class workers.”
Never mind that most of these workers have their share of taxes taken out of every check.
Also: “We need to make more jobs.”
How about financing the necessary jobs that are begging to be filled?
We have the qualified people to fill them.
They would greatly benefit our county. Especially the young.
What I don’t hear is: “Give our students more teachers. They are our future. How else can our students find advances in science, engineering, math, medicine, agriculture, etc.?”
We will be well repaid when they find cures for painful and debilitating illnesses.
We can’t all make huge contributions, but let us all do our share and work together to see what good things happen.
I could make the same case for our wounded veterans, other sick people and the poor. Let us try it. OK?
Teresa Rome,
Hoisington
