Dear Editor,
Politics, when done well, works for all of us, when done poorly, well you know, it’s politics and who needs that.
To me, the ability to talk to the people who impact my life and community is one of the great strengths of being a Kansan. I do not expect them to agree with me, I do however, expect them to listen and hear my concerns. Sharing ideas brings better results.
I am very troubled by the lack of interest that Jon Ewy has regarding the concerns of people other than close advisers. I am troubled by his refusal to debate issues on two separate occasions in Larned and Kinsley as reported in the Kinsley, Greensburg and Dodge City papers. He seems to prefer only Party sponsored events.
Perhaps he feels that he does not need to be concerned about employment at the Larned State Hospital and other local facilities. Perhaps he feels that he does not need to be concerned with the impact on our schools and property taxes the new tax changes will bring to us all. Perhaps he feels that he does not need to offer his solutions or positions before he is elected.
His apparent lack of concern, concerns me. That is why I am voting for Dennis McKinney for our Representative. Not because he is a Democrat, but because he visits us, listens to us and shares his ideas and concerns with the our community. I am voting for Dennis McKinneys ability to bring consensus to an issue not division. After all, the important issues facing us all are to important to be solved by partisan politics.
