Dear Editor,
Many of you have asked what you can do to help our schools in this difficult time in our state. The answer is simple: Vote. We live in a wonderful state that has been made strong by generations of voting Kansans. In our democracy, your vote is your voice. It is the right and responsibility of every person 18 years of age and older to vote. Please register and make sure your voice is heard in the primary election on Aug. 2 and the general election on Nov. 8.
The last day to register to vote for the Aug. 2, primary election is at the close of business on July 12. Voters may register to vote during regular business hours at the following Great Bend locations: Barton County Clerk’s Office, Barton County Farm Bureau Office, Barton County Health Department, Credit Union of America, Front Door, Kansas Department of DCF, Kansas Drivers’ License Examination Department, Rosewood Services, Sunflower Diversified Services Inc., and The Center for Counseling and Consultation. You can also go to www.bartoncounty.org<http://www.bartoncounty.org> website and become registered, as well as see if you are already registered and other registration information. We all know that there is a big election in November, but Kansans have a critical opportunity to vote in the August primary. Are you concerned about funding for our schools? The future of Kansas public education? The future of our state in general? Then vote on Aug. 2, and Nov. 8.
Please take time to become an informed voter and vote during this important political season.
