Roles and responsibilities of local officials

Dear Editor,
I thought I lived in Barton County, not Washington D.C. But the local paper makes our County Commission meetings sound like the National Congress. Aren’t we better than that. We didn’t elect county officials to publicly judge one another’s integrity. Just because they do that in Washington doesn’t make it right in Barton County. We elect local officials to operate the government that provides services to the residents of the county and by and large, they do a good job. Just lower the rhetoric. We elected you to serve us, not to rule over us. We already have a president, an attorney general, a speaker of the house, and a majority and minority leader in both houses of congress. Maybe an online course in State and Local Government might better spell out everyone’s roles and responsibilities for our local officials.
