Dear Editor,
Thanks to the generosity of people in Pawnee County, the December 2014 Salvation Army Fund Drive raised $5,037.78. The funds raised will serve Pawnee County residents with expenses for utilities, clothing, household items, travel, medical care, educational supplies, and other needs.
A big “Thank You!” to all who gave time and treasure during the Christmas season. They made possible The Salvation Army’s continuing ministry in Pawnee County. Pastors, Larned and Garfield church members, Larned High School National Honor Society and the Pawnee Heights School KAY Club students served as greeters/bell ringers at the Salvation Army kettle from Dec. 1 to Dec. 23, in front of Dillons. On Nov. 22, ringers staffed the kettle at the Hospital Auxiliary’s Craft Show at the Community Center, and at 6th and Broadway during the Christmas Parade on Nov. 29th. Twelve businesses in Burdett, Larned and Rozel hosted collection buckets. Some people chose to mail in donations using envelopes placed in the newspaper.
Particular thanks to Jason Starkey, Dillons Manager, and his staff, the Larned churches, Bob Haymaker, Kayla Lang and tellers at Farmers Bank and Trust and our local newspaper.
Again, thank you.
Rev. Jack Singer, Coordinator
