Dear Editor,
This past week, Stafford County lost one of their fire chiefs in an industrial accident.
Chief Getty served 23 years and was a well respected individual.
He deserved a memorable send-off with an honor guard. Stafford County doesnt have one, but I knew who did.
Chief Mike Napolitano is a good friend of mine and through that relationship I’ve gotten to know a bit about the Great Bend Fire Department.
One thing I knew was they have an honor guard.
Within minutes of placing a call the arrangements were being made.
Stafford County gave Chief Getty an incredible send-off and a big part of that success was the Great Bend Honor Guard.
At one point during the service there wasn’t a dry eye to be found.
The Great Bend Honor Guard put on a display that will be etched in the memories of the 500 in attendance for the rest of their lives. It was an honor to watch.
I knew the Great Bend Fire Department had an honor guard. But, I also knew that Great Bend has the finest firefighters you’ll find anywhere.
I consider it a privilege to work in a contiguous county.
On behalf of Stafford County, thank you!
Steve Moody,
Stafford
Thanks for the honor guard
