Dear Editor,
While Kansas’ presidential election seems to be a fore drawn conclusion, there is an exciting local race to spur Barton County residents to the polls.
In the primaries less than half of Barton County Republicans chose a nominee for Barton County Sheriff. After much public support our current sheriff, Greg Armstrong has re-entered the race as a write-in candidate so that as the county Democrats and Independent voters go to the polls they will have a choice.
When the BCSO was plagued by scandal, nobody from within the department stepped forward, and when it would have been easier to say that the previous decades of public service were enough, Greg Armstrong put his personal business goals on the back burner to serve and transformed the BCSO into an efficient and professional law enforcement agency. That he did so quietly without calling attention to himself means that he isn’t a slick politiCian, just a quiet professional doing the job. That is essential to the fair and impartial administration of the law, upon which rests our freedom.
Through some of the toughest fiscal challenges of this century Greg Armstrong has managed the Sheriff’s office within the budget while updating officer equipment and training. We are all safer thanks to Greg Armstrong’s leadership.
On Nov. 6th, I invite all Barton County voters, Republican, Democrat and Independent to vote to keep all the positive gains we have made and write in Greg Armstrong for sheriff.
