Before President Biden ended his campaign, the media were focused on his age and obsessed with questioning his physical and mental fitness. When will they focus on Trump’s age and mental decline with the same zeal?

Donald Trump is now the oldest presidential candidate ever nominated by a major party. He has confused President Biden with Barack Obama so many times that he recently had to put out a statement claiming it was intentional. Before choosing J.D. Vance as his running mate, he endorsed Vance during one of his rallies, first calling him “J.P.” and then “J.D. Mandel,” confusing Vance with rival Ohio senate candidate Josh Mandel. He mixed up Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi. He confused E. Jean Carroll, the woman he was convicted of sexually assaulting, with his ex-wife, Marla Maples. They are all scrambled together in his disordered mind, along with whale-killing windmills, the virtues of electrocution at sea (due to a huge battery capsizing a boat) versus getting eaten by a shark, and his regular bizarre mentions of the “late, great” Hannibal Lecter.

He continues to perpetuate the “great lie” that the 2020 election was “stolen” by a vast conspiracy, even though his own lawyers, his Justice Department, and his attorney general told him it wasn’t true.

At the core of his campaign is a paranoid thirst for revenge, calling for military tribunals, incarceration of election officials, and prosecution for those who have opposed him.

At a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wis., on Saturday he issued yet another ominous warning about his potential second term in the Oval Office, this time promising a “bloody story” for the millions of immigrants he intends to deport. As the New York Times has reported, Trump’s vision for America includes mass deportations that will be so extensive that “huge camps” will be needed to detain people. To execute his vision, Trump has proposed the creation of a “deportation force” pulled from local police and National Guard troops volunteered by “Republican-run states.” In other words, he wants an army of loyal racial purity troops and concentration camps.

These are the incomprehensible, disconnected, garbled rantings of a senile demented madman. If your father or grandfather behaved like Trump, you would be seeking mental health care for him, not handing him the nuclear codes. Donald Trump is not only unqualified for any elected office, he is mentally unfit.
