Gun control
Gun owners should act responsibly

Police in Port St. Lucie, Fla., are looking for a “burglar” who stole a gun and knife from Mike Maisonneuve’s unlocked car in his driveway. But the act sounds more like an intervention than a crime. Even the victim is treating it as a wake-up call, according to the story as reported by WPBF-TV.
Maisonneuve told police that a gun with bullets and a knife were taken. “But when he started to go back into his house, he noticed a bag next to the door with words scrawled on both sides,” the television station reported.
“One side read: LOADED GUN unlocked car = STUPID!!
“The other side read: LOTS of children in area.
“Inside the bag were his gun and the knife. But no bullets.”
Maisonneuve told the television station, “I learned a lesson, a valid lesson. I should not carry a loaded firearm in my car.
“My mind’s been other places the last week or so. I thought I locked my car. Apparently I didn’t,” he said.
The “thief” could still face charges of armed burglary, WPBF reported.
While many if not most gun owners act responsibly, it would seem this one had a thoughtless moment. And that someone was watching. While gun ownership is a right, responsible behavior is a kind of “gun control” everyone should support.
