Summer has arrived with a vengeance. Although temperatures are a little cooler this weekend than they have been recently, the dangers presented by heat remain. With that in mind, the Kansas Division of Emergency Management is urging everyone to monitor their local weather forecasts and offers some advise on beating the heat. • Stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun;• Stay on the lowest floor out of the sunshine if air conditioning is not available;• Consider spending the warmest part of the day in public buildings such as libraries, schools, movie theaters, shopping malls, and other community facilities. Circulating air can cool the body by increasing the perspiration rate of evaporation;• Eat well-balanced, light, regular meals;• Drink plenty of water.
