Pat Bauman, the youngest faculty member when Barton was established in 1969, coached women’s tennis among other sports, finishing with a 124-45-3 record at Barton with two conference championships, two Region VI championships and five NJCAA National Tournament appearances. Dennis Sherman was the first to win a conference championship in any sport at Barton as part of the men’s golf team from 1970-72. Wayne Becker was the owner of Becker Tire and Treading, Inc. He purchased season and regular admission tickets to basketball games for his employees, as well as supporting Barton athletics with a corporate sponsorship.
