The Barton men’s track and field team kept its top spot in the latest NJCAA Indoor Track and Field rankings.

The Cougars were slotted No. 1 in the initial rankings last week by the United States Track and Field Association and held that spot for a second straight week.

Barton leads group of six Jayhawk Conference schools ranked. That is down from eight last week.

Three of the top four are from the Jayhawk as Cloud County is third and Coffeyville fourth. Iowa Central is second and South Plains (Texas) rounds out the top five.

The rankings are based on a point total formula from actual events.

The Cougars are more than 100 points ahead of second place Iowa Central.

Also ranked in top 25 teams from the conference are Hutchinson at No. 15 – down eight spots from last week – Garden City stays at No. 20 and Cowley is down four spots to No. 23.
