The Barton Community College men’s golf team had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday at Lawrence’s Alvamar Golf Course as the Cougars qualified for the national championships for the first time since 2006 and added an individual top-10 finisher to the season accomplishments.
The Cougars held on to its sixth place in the NJCAA District III standings to round out the field of qualifiers shooting a 951 for the tournament.
Jeremie Eloy carded a 75 in his final round to win the Region VI individual title and jumped into a fifth-place-overall tie but lost a tie-breaker to fall out of the All-District III Tournament Team.
Barton will next prepare for a trip to Burlington, Iowa, for the NJCAA Division-I Men’s National Championship to be held May 11-16.
