BCC women win in Pratt

PRATT — The first points scored by the Barton Community College women’s basketball team against Pratt on Saturday was not an Alisha Fanshier 3-pointer.
It was a Raven Adams jumper. Adams finished with 11 points in the Cougars’ 87-70 rout of Pratt, which is 11-11 overall and 1-7 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division.
Barton’s win puts it at 5-3 in the KJCCC Western Division and 13-9 on the season.
While Fanshier didn’t start the game with a trey, she backed up Adams’ jumper with the first of four 3-pointers in the game on her way to a game-high 22 points, leading five Cougars in double digits.
But the end of the first half, the Cougars had a 47-39 lead, one that they did not relinquish in the second half.
Netanya Jackson scored 13 points and led Barton with nine rebounds, including six off the offensive glass.
Dionne Harris scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Christina Caddy finished the game with 11 points and seven boards.

BCC men edge past Pratt, 79-72
PRATT — The Barton men took a 7-0 lead right out of the gate.
Then never led by more than seven for the rest of the game, beating Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division for Pratt, 79-72 on Saturday night.
The win puts the Cougars at 5-3 in the KJCCC Western Division.
Dwayne Brunson led the Cougars with 19 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing his sixth double-double of the season.
Adam Young did come away with a double-double, scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds.
