Cougars and Beavers play to scoreless tie

PRATT — The Barton men’s soccer team is currently experiencing its longest scoring drought of the season.
After scoring in the first eight minutes of the their loss to Dodge City, the Cougars went the final 82 minutes without a goal in the 2-1 setback.
Saturday at Pratt, the Cougars weren’t able to score in 90 minutes of regulation. Fortunately for the Cougars, their defense held check as well.
The game went one, then two overtimes before finally ending in a 0-0 tie.
It was the second disappointing decision in a row for the Cougars, following the setback to Dodge City.
Pratt hasn’t won a game this season.
Barton is now 2-2-1 in the Jayhawk West and 7-3-1 overall. The Beavers are 0-2-2 in the conference and 0-5-3 overall. Pratt also tied Dodge City earlier in the season.
The previous longest drought came around a 1-0 overtime loss at State Fair earlier in the year. Barton has now gone more than 200 minutes without a goal.
Barton will look to get its offense back on track in a scrimmage today against the McPherson JV before returning to regular season play Tuesday at Iowa Western. The Reivers are 5-2-1 with its only losses to No. 3 Indians Hills and Trinidad State, a team ranked in the preseason.
Barton will return to Jayhawk West play Saturday when Garden City visits the Barton Sports Complex.
