Cougars get easy win over Kansas Wesleyan

It was about as easy a win as they come. But it is not necessarily the kind of win Coach Lyle Stickney was hoping for.
The Barton women’s tennis team defeated Kansas Wesleyan 5-2. It was a match that saw the Coyotes put just three women on the court.
“The good news for our women’s team was that we picked up our third straight win in as many meets,” Coach Stickney said. “Unfortunately it’s a win that wasn’t completely settled on the courts. KW wasn’t able to field a full team due to injuries and suspensions.”
Daniela Sanz kept her unbeaten season alive with wins in singles and doubles. Sanz and Idah Longwe teamed to win doubles over Cassidy Cook and Heather Koester. The Barton duo rolled to an 8-3 win.
In singles, Sanz won 6-0, 6-0 over Cook at No. 1. She is now 3-0 in singles and doubles.
Barton lost No. 2 doubles 8-4. Juliana Seabra and Karli Beck dropped the match to Koester and Brenda Sanchez.
The only other match played during the afternoon was Sanchez defeating Beck 8-5 at No. 4 singles. The Cougars are back in action Friday when Colorado Christian comes to Barton for a 9 am start.
The dual will be played Veterans Park in Great Bend.
