DODGE CITY — Barton Community College golf team finished second in the Dodge City Invitational on Tuesday, losing only to NCAA Division-II team Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Barton finished highest among the junior colleges present. The event was held Monday and Tuesday.
“We beat Dodge City,” BCC head coach Doug Kaiser said. “We beat them by a pretty good chunk of strokes.”
Dodge City finished in third place, shooting a total score of 817 — 62 strokes behind the Lady Cougars’ finish of 755.
NW Oklahoma State’s Amanda Dixon finished at the top of the leader board with a 158 in the two-day event.
Barton was led by last year’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference regional winner Rachel Strecker, who shot 171 over 36 holes and finished in sixth place. Tara Chremmer of BCC also finished in the top 10, shooting 192.
