Barton sophomore Carolina Goncalves was named to the Jayhawk West All Conference 1st team as four Cougars were selected to the team overall.
Joining Goncalves were Monique Oliveira and Laine Conceicao on the second team and Averie Warehime as an honorable mention pick.
With all the teams playing Region VI Division I volleyball in the West, the teams also makes up the All-Region team as well.
“It was good to see us have four players make the All-Conference/Region teams,” Barton coach Brandon Stephenson said. “We know that this conference is going to produce some great talented volleyball players.”
Goncalves, a sophomore setter from Brazil, was a repeat selection to the first team. She led Barton with 844 assists for nearly eight a set. In addition she was second on the team with 249 digs and finished the year with a team-high 38 service aces.
Goncalves will leave Barton 9th all-time in assists.
Oliveira is also a repeat selection, garnering first team honors last year in addition to being a second team pick this year. Oliveira led Barton with 308 kills and 365 digs. A sophomore outside hitter from Brazil, Oliveira finished the season with 49 blocks.
Conceicao is a freshman hitter from Brazil. She came on strong during the conference season, finishing second on the team with 208 kills to go with 173 digs and 45 blocks.
Warehime, a sophomore blocker from Colorado, was second on the team with 90 blocks. She recorded 129 kills as well. She is 6th all-time in assisted blocks at Barton.
“For Carol, Monique and Averie to get the acknowledgment for their careers at Barton was good,” Coach Stephenson said. “Having Carol and Averie also stamp their names in the record books on career assists and career assist blocks was also good to see.
“To have Laine, as a freshman, make it after she missed a good portion of the first month of the season with an injury was nice. It is showing that we are getting good caliber student-athletes that take pride in their play on the court and the play of their teammates.”
Seward, the West regular season champions, swept the individual awards. Thais Baziquetto-Allen was the Coach of the Year, Giovanni Kuntze was the Most Valuable Player and Giovanni Tapigliani was the Freshman of the Year.
