Barton Community College head women’s basketball coach Keith Ferguson has a new aide.
Carter Kruger, who has coached previously at Garden City Community College, has been hired as an assistant coach at Barton.
Prior to coming to BCC, Kruger spent two seasons in a similar capacity with the Broncbusters.
Kruger replaces Ben Lister, who recently accepted the head women’s basketball coaching position at Baker University in Baldwin City.
During his time at Garden City, Kruger was responsible for working with the post players, game development and also had recruiting duties.
Kruger had two players sign NCAA Division I scholarships and three players sign Division II.
Additionally, Kruger coached one first-team, one second-team, and two honorable mention All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Western Division performers while at Garden City.
Kruger was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Minnesota State University-Mankato for two seasons, prior to departing to Garden City.
While at Minnesota State-Mankato, the Mavericks won 51 games, made two NCAA tournament appearances and had two All-American post players.
“We are really excited to have Coach Kruger join our staff,” Ferguson said.  “He knows the hard work it takes to be successful in the league and comes highly recommended to help us continue to improve and compete for a league title.”
Kruger graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State and a master’s degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.
His father, Kelly Kruger, is currently the winningest coach in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at Adams State.
