The No. 19-ranked Barton Community College women’s soccer team scored four first-half goals and coasted for a 5-0 victory over Garden City on Monday evening at the Cougars Soccer/Track Complex.
The Lady Cougars scored three goals in seven minutes midway through the first half, then added a fourth with five minutes to play before intermission.
Bianca Barron, Barton’s leading scorer, got the Lady Cougars started with a header off Olimpia Bonilla corner kick.
Ruth Cazier scored back-to-back, and Emily Troll scored the next two goals, one in the first half and the second two minutes into the final half. Barton quickly put the game on ice and cruised to the victory.
Barton improves to 13-3-1 overall, 9-2-1 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play, while Garden City remains winless at 0-16, 0-11.
The Lady Cougars, who beat Cloud County 7-4 on Saturday, take sole possession of third place in conference standings with one regular-season game remaining. They host Kansas City, Kansas on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Almost a year after Cloud County men’s soccer team ended Barton’s 2011 season in the NJCAA Region VI playoffs, the Cougars unleashed a portion of revenge on their tormentor in a 4-0 victory on Saturday.
No. 9-ranked Barton jumped on the defending NJCAA champions with three first-half goals in route to the shutout, which assures the Cougars at least a share of the KJCCC championship.
Sam McCrillis found Ebu Camara for the first two goals, and Gonzalo Gelso drilled in a goal from 30 yards out.
Hector Mata scored the only goal of the second half to give the Cougars a 4-0 advantage over the No. 7-ranked Thunderbirds.
The Cougars are 12-2-1 overall, 9-0-0 conference, and can clinch the KJCCC title outright with a victory on Wednesday against Kansas City, Kansas at the Cougars Soccer/Track Complex at 4 p.m.
