Panther girls sweep two relays

JUNCTION CITY – Great Bend’s girls distance relays captured first place in the 1,600-meter relay and 3,200-meter relay at Thursday’s Junction City Track Invitational.

Great Bend’s 1,600-meter relay (4:20.14) won by 10 seconds with Sadie Spray, Eliana Beckham, Reese Bullard and Kara Feist. The 3,200-meter relay (10:18.88) of Beckham, Bullard, Morgan Beckwith and Addy Nicholson placed first by 21 seconds.

The Panthers (1081/2) placed fourth behind Salina Central (1281/2) and Manhattan (1211/2).

Panther Macy Nachtigal won the javelin gold medal (122-9).

Spray placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (51.03) and second in the high jump (5-0).

Bullard placed third in the 400 (1:02.85).

Beckham placed runner-up (2:27.54) in the 800 meters.

PANTHER BOYS – Panther freshman Cooper Ohnmacht debuted with a first-place finish in the triple jump (43-3).

Ismael Ramirez enjoyed a strong day with a third-place in the 3,200 (10:37.75) and a fifth place in the 1,600 (4:46.53).

Matthew Johnson placed third in the javelin (150-9).
