It has almost been an weekly award for the Barton men’s basketball team. For the fourth time in five weeks, a member of the Cougars was named Kansas MTXE Jayhawk Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Kawanise ‘Squeaky’ Wilkins earned the award for the second time this season. He was also awarded the honor back in week two. Marvin Cannon and Kehson Montague have also won the honor this season.
Wilkins recorded a pair of double-doubles for the Cougars. The 6-5 freshman from Chicago scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in Barton’s home loss to Allen County.
On the heels of Barton’s only loss of the season, Wilkins came back with a 16-point, 13-rebound game at Independence.
Wilkins leads the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game and rebounds at 7.8 per contest. Those numbers are both top five the region.
Scout Frame of Cloud County was named the women’s Player of the Week, averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per contests for the Thunderbirds in their two wins.
