CLAFLIN — Top-seeded Central Plains  cruised past Ness City 25-10, 25-16 to earn a showdown against Central Prairie League rival Victoria in the 1A regional championship. The Cougars (25-11) downed Victoria, 25-8, 25-13 in the championship match.

Victoria rallied from a 21-16 deficit for a shocking victory over two-time 1A state qualifier Otis-Bison 23-25, 25-22, 33-31. The Cougars owned six match points, but they missed four match-winners and Victoria hit two winners. The Knights won the match on a serve that landed inbounds.

Ness City defeated Western Plains 25-13, 23-25, 26-24, Otis-bison beat Wilson 25-19, 25-17 and Victoria downed LaCrosse, 25-9, 25-6 in opening-round matches.

LITTLE RIVER — For the second consecutive year, St. John coach Trish Wade guided the Tigers past Hutchinson Central Christian (23-12) to advance 25-29, 26-24 to the championship round against No. 5-state ranked Little River. The Redskins (28-9) defeated St. John 25-15, 25-23 in the championship, but the Tigers (21-15) advance to 1A substate. St. John beat Fairfield in its opener.

KINSLEY — Minneola (29-8) battled past Macksville 19-25, 25-17, 25-16 and downed Kinsley 25-11, 25-16 in the regional championship.
