Ottawa University’s Superman Holland Boan did it again. Boan drilled a three-run first-inning homer to spark the Braves past McPherson College 12-7 in Saturday's KCAC Baseball Championship. at the Great Bend Sports Complex. Boan drilled a grand slam homer for a 6-5 victory over Kansas Wesleyan in Thursday's winner’s bracket semifinal.
Ottawa led 9-0 after two innings. Gabe Eckstaine hit an RBI single and Matthew Aguilar hit an RBI single for a 5-0 lead. Kyle Banister hit a two-run single. Rylan Cratsenberg hit an RBI single and Aguilar dropped a squeeze bunt for a 9-0 lead.
McPherson rallied as Noah Nelson hit a homer, James Canar blasted a two-run homer and Jake Pearson slammed a three-run homer. But Zachary Spradlin's three-run seventh-inning homer preserved Ottawa's lead.
Ottawa (35-18) qualifies for the NAIA Baseball Championship. Ottawa eliminated three-time KCAC champion Oklahoma Wesleyan 6-3 in Friday's game.
