ELLINWOOD – Ellinwood all-stater Britton Dutton scored 25 points, but more importantly held Central Plains all-league Peyton Ryan to nine points in a dominating 62-21 Central Prairie League basketball victory. Koy Behnke added 14 points.
Ellinwood (7-0) employed effective fullcourt and halfcourt defense to frustrate the Oilers. Dutton took the lead by defending Ryan most of the ballgame.

ELLINWOOD – Central Plains all-stater Brynna Hammeke scored 20 points to spark a 50-30 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Ellinwood. The Oilers (5-2) took control by converting 16 first-half turnovers into a 31-10 halftime lead.
The Oilers received a spark from Grace Lamatsch with eight points and a pair of 3-pointers and Melissa Donecker converted 4-of-5 shots for eight points.
Ellinwood's Brittany Simpson scored 16 points and Bella Baker contributed 14 points as they worked superbly by passing the basketball to each other. Ellinwood started the first half and second half with the first four points.

HOISINGTON – In an instant replay of the girls game, Smoky Valley outscored Hoisington 20-9 in the fourth quarter to steal a 40-34 Central Kansas League basketball victory over the Cardinals. Hoisington led 25-20 after three quarters.
Smoky Valley (2-4) was sparked by Kade Blanchat with 13 points, seven in the fourth quarter. Ki Blanchat and Gus Lee Griffith added seven apiece. The Vikings outshot the Cardinals 14-3 on free throw attempts.
The Cardinals closed within 34-31, but Gus Lee Griffith and Kade Blanchat scored back-to-back baskets.
Hoisington's Tony Moore scored 13 points and Chase Steinert added seven points. The Cardinals drew five offensive charging fouls.
"I'm proud of the defensive effort. We did a phenomenal job," said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. "We got outshot 14-3 at the line. We've got to get to the foul line. We've got to get that fixed."

HOISINGTON – Smoky Valley’s girls outscored Hoisington 25-14 after halftime for a hard-fought 43-39 Central Kansas League basketball victory over the Cardinals.
Hoisington (4-2) led 25-18 at halftime behind a superb opening half.
Jordyn Boxberger’s free throw after Mallory Mooney’s basket off a Ellie Crawford assist handed the Cardinals a 39-38 lead. But Viking Tinley Scott scored the go-ahead basket on a fast break. Smoky Valley’s Clara McElroy added a free throw and Katja Blanchat converted a pair of free throws.
Hoisington’s Kelsi Maier and Kylee Hahn each scored a season high 10 points. Blanchat led the Vikings with 19 points.
