CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 48, KINSLEY 15 — Marilyn Soeken stayed her momentum with a 20-point night and Central Plains' aggressive defense paved the way for a 48-15 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Kinsley. 

Aevyn Siemsen added 11 points. The Oilers (16-3, 7-1 CPL) finish one-half game behind co-champions Ellinwood and St. John.

Ava Kirkwood scored six points for Kinsley (3-16, 1-7 CPL).

CENTRAL PLAINS 60, KINSLEY 23 — The Central Plains Oilers played a perfect defensive first half for a 38-0 halftime lead en route to a 60-23 Central Prairie League victory over Kinsley.

Camden Stiles converted a pair of 3-pointers and scored 16 points. Aiden Hekele added 11 points. The Oilers (15-4, 7-1 CPL) finish one-half behind Victoria for the Central Prairie League basketball title.

ELLINWOOD, GIRLS 61, OTIS-BISON 28 — The No. 6 ranked 2A Ellinwood's girls (17-2, 8-1 CPL) clinched their first Central Prairie League basketball title since 2005 with a victory over Otis-Bison.

Ellinwood's Alyvia Batchman (13), Mette Maxwell (11) and Regan Widener (10) scored in double figures. The Eagles converted six 3-point field goals.

Destiny Mitchell paced Otis-Bison with 19 points.

The Eagles have improved from a 5-16 record to a 17-2 record.

"These girls have come a long way from two wins in league play to tied at the top with an 8-1 record in league play," said Ellinwood coach Greg Maxwell. "The girls aren’t done and are having a lot of fun looking forward to the next opportunity.

"More importantly, they will be the No. 2 seed and host a quarterfinal substate game against Hill City. If we win a substate semifinal game at home we'll have a chance to play in the substate championship game." 

The Lady Eagles are in a prime position to make a deep postseason run. With their dominant performance this season, Ellinwood fans have high hopes for a thrilling finish as the Lady Eagles aim for a state tournament berth.

MACKSVILLE 52, ST. JOHN 49 — Macksville's all-stater Diego Esparza scored 33 points with six rebounds as the Mustangs edged St. John 52-49 to clinch third place in the Central Prairie League boys basketball division. 

Carlos Ibarra grabbed seven rebounds. Hector Gomez dished out two assists. Orion Guevara had two steals.

The Tigers (15-5, 8-1 CPL) outscored the Mustangs 37-18 after halftime.

Macksville (8-12, 4-5 CPL) was led by Isabela Ortiz with 11 points and Heidy Ortiz with 10 points.
