CLAFLIN — No. 1 ranked 1A Central Plains edged past St. John's girls 35-23 in Friday's Central Prairie League basketball game.

Kassidy Nixon scored 13 points and Brynna Hammeke scored 12 points for Central Plains (12-3, 3-0 CPL). Kaylynn Claussen sparked St. John (8-7, 2-2 CPL) with 12 points. The Oilers held the Tigers' leading scorer Darby Smith to five points.

St. John (5-10, 0-4 CPL) was paced by Elijah Delp with 12 points. Hunter Smith and Edwin Fernandez each added nine points.

Baalman scored seven points in the fourth quarter to spark the Cougars' best victory of the season. Lauren Maier scored nine points. Ashland's MacKenzie Walker scored 19 points.

Otis-Bison's Jayce Kohls scored 18 points with four 3-pointers and Kaden Foust added 15 points in an inspired effort.

ROZEL — Jaden Carlson was the Tigers' magic man with 32 points and six clutch points to seal a hard-fought 68-63 Southern Plains Iroquois basketball victory over pesky Satanta.

Satanta's Christian Ramirez converted a 3-pointer and Edwin Rodriguez capped a 4-point possession on a 3-point play to slice the Tigers' lead to three points. But Carlson converted four free throws and a driving basket to preserve the Tigers' lead. Braden Colglazier scored 18 points with 11 rebounds. Felipe Cordero Jr. contributed six steals and three assists.

The red-hot Pawnee Heights girls roared past Satanta 51-20 in Friday's Southern Plains-Iroquois league basketball game. The Tigers led 37-6 at halftime.
