HOISINGTON 34, PRATT 13

HOISINGTON — Hoisington's Hunter Morris scored three touchdowns to spark the Cardinals past rival Pratt 34-13 in Friday's season-opening football game. Morris scored on runs of 8 and 28 yards and added a timely 47-yard scoring reception from quarterback Mason Haxton.

The Cardinals rushed for 281 yards on 45 attempts. Hoisington's Holt Hanzlick scored an opening 16-yard touchdown. Cade Mason dashed 40 yards to set up Morris' tackle-breaking 28-yard score for a 13-0 lead.

Pratt's Grant Younie intercepted a Mason Haxton pass and Greenback quarterback Blake Coss converted a 2-yard touchdown for a 13-6 score. Hoisingon's Joshua Ball scored on a 5-yard run for a 20-6 halftime lead.

Hanzlick opened the second half with two long runs to set up a 47-yard touchdown pass to Morris. Morris converted a 61-yard drive on his 8-yard scoring dash.

Bryce Winsor caught a 36-yard touchdown pass to cap Pratt's night.

Hanzlick rushed for 81 yards followed by Ball with 56 yards. Morris gained 46 yards. Haxton gained 45 yards and passed for 56 yards.

ELLINWOOD – Olpe quarterback Damon Redeker threw three touchdown passes and Olpe scored off twice on takeaways for a 61-0 non-league football victory over Ellinwood.

Ellinwood (0-1) enjoyed one highlight when the Eagles stopped Derek Hoelting on fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line. The Eagles also stopped Redeker at the 1-yard line. 

Olpe's Jordan Barnard caught two touchdown passes and Truman Bailey scored one touchdown. Tailback Kynden Robert scored on 16- and 45-yard dashes. Garret Cole scored on a 10-yard fumble return. Andrew Foraker scored on an 18-yard interception return.

MACKSVILLE – Ness City quarterback Jose Guzman completed three touchdown passes and scored a rushing touchdown in a 46-0 victory over Macksville.

Jose Guzman completed scoring strikes to Gavin Schreiber, Danny Guzman and Jackson Seib. Edwin Rodriguez scored on 2- and 32-yard runs. Jose Guzman added a 7-yard scoring dash.

Rodriguez and Danny Guzman each intercepted passes to set up Ness City touchdowns.

DEERFIELD – First-year Pawnee Heights football coach Keenan Rasmussen was rewarded with a dominating 6-man victory.

Back Braden Colglazier rushed for 119 yards and five touchdowns. He passed for 87 yards and two scores and converted a 61-yard kickoff return for a score. 

Adam Hands rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, passed for 27 yards and had 45 yards receiving and a touchdown. Davin Hamby had 49 yards receiving and two conversions. Ely Hoffman scored on a 20-yard reception. Junior Cordero rushed for 41 yards and added a pair of 3-point plays. Aden Gilliland scored off a fumble return.

STAFFORD 50, FAIRFIELD 0

LANGDON – Stafford quarterback Dylan Gantz threw for four touchdown passes to spark the Trojans past Langdon-Fairfield 50-0 in Thursday's opening 8-man football game.

"The kids played very good football," said Stafford coach TaylorBauman. 

Kleyton Schreiber caught 8-and 17-yard touchdown passes and added a 10-yard rushing touchdown as he gained 105 yards on the ground. Gantz completed five passes for 89 yards. Tai Hildebrand caught a 30-yard touchdown pass and Tarrant Young converted a 16-yard scoring pass from Gantz.

Stafford's Shawn Sheets scored on a blocked punt by teammate Josh Hildebrand. Gantz and Schreiber each intercepted a pass. Fairfield gained 53 yards rushing and committed three turnovers.
