Area residents do the heavy lifting

SALINA –  On Nov. 21, four area residents participated in the 2014 Kansas Regional Powerlifting Meet held in Salina. Those taking part were Tom Beckwith of Great Bend, Kim Heinz and Art Keffer of Ellinwood and David Tudor of Bushton. There were 35 lifters who attended and participated in the meet.
Beckwith participated in and took first place in the 220-pound Novice Division. Beckwith completed a squat of 485 pounds, a benchpress of 375 pounds and a deadlift of 485 pounds. Beckwith’s total on the day was 1,345 pounds.
Heinz participated in and took first place in the 148-pound Novice Division. Heinz completed a squat of 180 pounds, a benchpress of 100 pounds and a deadlift of 225 pounds. Heinz’ total on the day was 505 pounds.
Keffer participated in and took 1st place in the 275-pound Masters 2 Division. Keffer completed a squat of 672 pounds, a benchpress of 441 pounds and a deadlift of 601 pounds. Keffer’s total on the day was 1,714 pounds. Keffer also took top honors as best over all lifter in the meet.
Tudor participated in the 308-pound Sub-Master 1 Division and completed a squat of 601 pounds, a benchpress of 308 pounds and a deadlift of 611 pounds. Tudor’s total on the day was 1,520 pounds.
The next meet the group has plans to participate in is the 2015 Kansas State Powerlifting Championships scheduled to be held in Salina on March 21.
